The goal of MRSEC outreach efforts with the Charlottesville City Schools (CCS) is to directly inform and inspire area students in the K-12 CCS District regarding the exciting scientific and technological advances acheived by the UVa MRSEC and the educational opportunities provided by higher education, generally, and by the University of Virginia, specifically. Outreach efforts take many forms, including classroom visits where MRSEC presenters introduce nanotechnology-related materials, and a campus visits program which brings groups of students to UVa for tours and demonstrations within the School of Engineering and the labs of MRSEC faculty and graduate students.
