We have implemented a number of mechanisms to ensure that the Center functions as an integrated, multi-disciplinary team. One main forum for exchange between Center members is our biweekly “Journal Club” meetings. Each meeting lasts for 1-1.5 hours. The first part of the meeting is either a discussion of a relevant recent journal article by a Center member, a research summary by a new or off-site Center participant, or a discussion of a particularly relevant article from the literature. The second part of the meeting extends into discussions of recent research findings or challenges from Center members. These journal club meetings are highly successful and typically attended by approximately one dozen Center participants each month.
